Getting to the end of the year, aren't we?
Oh, devoid of other ideas, here is some music I discovered this year...most of these weren't released this year, but this is when I found it.
- Tired Pony (2009): Mix up Snow Patrol, REM and other folks. This is what you get.
- Minipop's "Ask Me A Question" (2007). I found myself listening to this stuff and getting a lot of work done as the groove just seemed to work for me.
- Ulrich Schnauss: "A Letter From Home" (2003). See reasoning under Minipop.
- Azure Ray's "Sleep." (2001) The title pretty much sets the mood for this one. Ironically, the Wiki article on one of the members refers to Azure Ray as "dream pop."
- Dave Sills: "Life Without Love" (2010)
- Justin Currie: "Can't Let Go Of Her Now" (2010). I have always been a Del Amitri freak, so I was happy to have more solo material from the Dels' lead singer. Now with banjo!*
- Paper Tongues (2010). The entire CD is great, but "What If" stood out for me. (sorry, live version here)
- One of the boys' favorites this year (judged by the number of times they played the video) was Passion Pit's "Sleepyhead" (2010).
- The Naked and Famous: "Young Blood" (2010).
- Due to Sirius/XM's holiday season "Band on the Run Radio," (which played nothing but Paul McCartney material for a month), I became reacquainted with some of the songs from that release, including "Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five" (1973). Again, sorry, live version...the studio version is awesome.
Ok, fine...that's enough. I'll wrap up the year tomorrow.

* - Not much of a banjo fan, but I do dig it in this one.
